Blue Lock Season 2 Episode 4 English Sub
Review
Today, we’re diving into an in depth review of Blue Lock Season 2 Episode 4. This episode might be one of the best adapted ones of Blue Lock so far. So, without further delay, let's get into it. In this episode, we start off with the scene where Nanase, Isagi, and Hiori discuss the previous match’s outcome, allowing viewers a bit more insight into how Isagi scored that final goal.
Animation and Adaptation
The animation has still maintained a “slideshow” quality, and I’ve resigned to the fact that we likely won’t get anything more refined in this season. Despite that, I noticed that Blue Lock’s effects and panel adaptation have significantly improved. The still frames are impressive when paused, and the character designs stay true to the manga.
The Main Matchup: Rin’s Team vs. Nagi’s Team
This episode focuses on the dynamic between Rio and Nagi during the third selection match, highlighting their growth and chemistry on the field. Notably, we see Ego making decisions about players, which adds a humorous touch and a bit of nostalgia as we recall his journey through Blue Lock.
Yukimiya's Introduction and CGI Concerns
Yukimiya Keisuke, ranked #5 in Blue Lock, makes his entrance, which is quite well done. However, the CGI effects on the close-up shots of the footwork throw off the scene’s quality. It’s a shame because this moment could’ve had a stronger impact if it was done in 2D.
Yukimiya's Gyro Shot
The depiction of Yukimiya’s Gyro Shot was well-executed with the OST backing him up, but again, the manga presents this in a way that’s difficult for the anime to surpass. This shot underscores his skills as the ball dips down perfectly for Nagi to trap it and score, which was a truly epic moment.
Rio's Character Arc
This episode also delves into Rio’s character development. He reflects on his relationship with Nagi and how, despite his privilege, he yearns to challenge himself and not return to a life of complacency. His desire to work hard and achieve something difficult was portrayed well in this episode, marking a pivotal moment in his growth.
The Ending and Episode Five Predictions
The episode wraps up as Itoshi Sae announces his intent to recruit a Blue Lock player for his team, which leaves fans excited for Episode 5. The anticipation builds around whom Sae will choose, and it’ll be fascinating to see the anime-only fans' reactions.
