Review

Alright, so today I’m back with yet another chapter review, and today we will go over chapter 256, which is insane. Be sure to stick to the end because you don’t want to miss it.

Recap of the Previous Chapter

Alright, so to start off chapter 256, let’s read the text at the top to remember what happened in the last chapter. It says, “With Kuiggami limiting Shidu’s movements, the game enters a stalemate with several 1v1 matchups emerging to rest control of the match. Win your matchup and take control of this match.”

Anyway, chapter 256, also called “Contradict,” begins in the heat of the match as Kira and Kaassu are furiously fighting for control over the ball. Raimi is trying his best to motivate Kira by telling him to steal it, while Zantetsu is doing the same thing for Kaassu. Their clash is getting more intense, and they quickly realize that they can’t keep doing this forever. That’s when Charles decides to weigh in, as he starts running to help Kaassu. However, he looks behind and sees Hori right on his tail.

Charles and Hori’s Mind Games

Hori is trying to catch up and thinks that if he is going to outwit Charles, then he will need to use this moment effectively while Kuiggami is blocking Shida. As we know, Charles likes passing to Shida as they are very like-minded. But now that he has lost that option, Hori is certain that Charles will need to look for someone else to pass to. He starts to wonder who it will be—maybe Rin or maybe Nanase—but that doesn’t seem right. He calls himself a dumbass, realizing that Charles isn’t just a normal player but a contrarian. Hori concludes that he needs to contradict Charles’s contrarian thinking.

Charles vs. the Nuisance Rose Duo

Charles approaches Kaassu, but then Grim comes into the mix, barraging into Kaassu’s back. Kaassu can’t hold on anymore and tells Charles to go as he passes the ball. Charles, smiling, compliments Kaassu’s pass and looks ahead to see Shida, who is still blocked by Kuiggami. But that’s not all. He also sees Kaiser and Ness, determined to stop him. Charles gets annoyed, calling them the “Nuisance Rose Duo.”

Then, the current number one Neoegoist League player, Itosshi Rin, comes to Charles’s rescue. They exchange glances, but Charles suddenly shoots the ball forward, tricking everyone. Kaiser and Ness are shocked. They had closed off Charles’s pass by 99%, but he managed to find that 1% spot to pass through. However, Charles’s devilish smile is wiped off quickly as his pass is suddenly blocked by Hori. The stylish block leaves everyone amazed, even Isagi. Hori proudly declares that he cracked Charles’s contrarian thinking, knowing that Charles would aim for the impossible. Charles, left in shock, calls Hori creepy, clearly demoralized and disgusted.

The Game Heats Up

We then shift to Asahi, who observes Hori’s control of the field, as the ball and the pieces around him begin to form a black hole on the pitch—just normal Blue Lock craziness. Hori is fired up and ready to counterattack, and Reicci agrees by being the first one on the ball, followed closely by Tokkimitsu. But Reicci is determined, trash-talking Tokkimitsu before sending a pass to Hori.

The Triple Press

Hori receives the ball, but suddenly, a triple press forms against him. Karas, Nanase, and Xantetsu block him. Karas trash talks Hori, calling him a mediocre gamer and daring him to beat the “boss rush.” But Hori is unfazed. He locks in, smashing a no-look rapid cross, leaving everyone stunned. As the ball is about to land, Isagi, Kaiser, Rin, Kuiggami, and Shida are all ready to make their move. The text at the bottom reads, “Hori begins to figure out Charles’s tendencies and block his pass. As Hiori’s golden pass sails towards the PXG goal, it’s time to show the world your top performance and smash the ball into the back of the net.” The next chapter is called “Two Gun,” though its meaning remains a mystery. What do you think it could mean?

Conclusion and Thoughts

I don’t have much more to say on this chapter as I’m a bit behind, but I want to highlight Karas’s incredible work throughout the match. In the beginning, he was fighting for the ball with Kira, and later, he tried to steal it from Hori, though that didn’t go as planned. But what can you do against Isagi and Hiyori when they get serious?

I’m excited to see where this attack is going to lead. Is this the start of Bastard München’s first goal, or will PXG find a way to defend? What do you think? Let me know in the comments, as I love reading your theories.
