Review

Alright, so today I’m back with yet another chapter review, and today we will go over Chapter 254, which is insane! Be sure to stick till the end because you don’t want to miss it.

Team Dynamics and Strategy

Chapter 254 begins with Isagi, Kunigami, and Hiori walking side by side, agreeing to try and work together. Ricci is on the side, screaming as usual, stating that PXG only leads by one point and encouraging Bastard München to counter. Gagamaru is fired up, vowing to stop the next shot, while Kira contributes little with a “Yeah, yeah.”

We quickly switch to PXG, where Nanase and Tokimitsu are discussing how, despite being on the same team, they can’t be genuinely happy about Shidou’s goal. They express a desire to help Rin score, believing that making Rin the hero is essential for their own ranking to improve.

The Egoist Theory Explained

As the game continues, we see the “big four” of the match: Rin, Shidou, Isagi, and Emperor Kaiser. Rin insults Shidou, calling him a “Pink Bug eyesore,” while Shidou takes it as a compliment. Isagi and Kaiser join in, with Kaiser dismissing Shidou as “pink trash.” The game resumes with Kaiser aiming to eliminate Shidou, while Shidou humorously embraces his “Trashy Pink Bug” persona.

Isagi, meanwhile, reflects deeply on peak performance and egoism. He identifies two types of ego: the self-style ego, which prioritizes personal pleasure (exemplified by players like Shidou), and the world-style ego, which prioritizes understanding and working within the world’s rules. Isagi categorizes players like Bachira and Barou as self-style egoists, while he, Kaiser, and Hiori fall into the world-style ego category. This introspection helps him realize that in order to reach his peak performance, he must analyze and understand the egos of others on the field.

Battle on the Field

The action picks up as Zantetsu steals the ball from Ness, only for Hiori to intercept the pass intended for Tokimitsu. Hiori, however, is quickly thwarted by Charles, who weirdly squeezes Hiori’s cheek while complimenting his eyes. Charles, being a bit eccentric, continues to throw in emojis during gameplay.

As the ball is passed to Shidou, Kunigami enters the scene, addressing Shidou as the “Explosion Demon” and coldly reminding him that he ruined his life. Despite Shidou trying to play it cool, Kunigami steals the ball, and the chapter ends with Hiori and Charles, Kunigami, and Shidou all facing off in tense showdowns.

Final Thoughts

This chapter was packed with intense dialogue, especially with Isagi’s breakdown of player types and ego styles. The dynamic between the different teams is fascinating, especially with the internal competition in PXG to make Rin the star. I’m particularly interested in the growth of characters like Nanase and Tokimitsu, who are often overlooked but continue to shine.

What’s Next?

Unfortunately, we don’t know the title of the next chapter, but I expect it to continue the ongoing battles. I’m eager to see how the Hiori-Charles and Kunigami-Shidou matchups unfold. What do you think will happen next?
